Once upon a time when I was small......

Everytime Hari Raya, I will remember my childhood days. Both my parents have long gone. Thus I think Hari Raya will fill me with nostalgia.....

I have not thought about it for so long, and I can hardly remember the memories. We lived in the village. I was maybe about 6 years old then..... hehehe.... yeah I am really old! Electricity just came to our village then....

So being so called a better off family, we had the first television in the village. This was what I vaguely remembered.

On every Friday night there will be many of the villagers coming to our house. Some came early, just after Magrib. Those who arrived late will be sitting at the veranda. If I am not mistaken at 8 pm was the malay movie playing.

If it was a good movie, the crowd could be more than 30 people, on average it will be about 20 people. I remembered watching those movies on the lap of my late mother. Those were the days.... so simple.....

After the show, usually after 10 pm, they will all leave, some rode bicycles. I noticed that most of them will handshake my mother, giving her 10 cents.... and I saw some living 5 cents at the veranda railings.

That memory haunts me....

Why?

A girl age 15 plunged down 13 floors......

No matter what was reported in the daily newspaper, I still do not understand why? A lot of questions raced thru my mind.

Are there similar cases in Malaysia?

What are the numbers?

Is the percentage alarming?

Anything being done?

Who we can turn to?

And many more questions.......

To all my friends in this cyber world, I pray and hope, if any of you(or someone you know), ever think of doing something in desperation, please take your time to email me at dade_ghost@yahoo.com . I am not promising anything, but I will definitely read and listen to your issues. If needed I may be able to give some suggestion to overcome your predicament.

There are no issues in this world that has no alternative solution, accept when death come knocking on our door.

Have a great life!

P/S: I pray that the 15 year old will recover fully and love life as it is.....

A trip to Tanjung Piai.

I just got back from Tanjung Piai, Johor. It is somewhere near Kukup. Nothing much, but I was bored during the Raya so I just decided to go there.

I am still too tired from the journey. I hope to post up some picture or maybe some short video I took. Well let see if I can upload those picture on my notebook.

Should be getting back to work. Again see how. I might skip another day. It is getting too edgy on work front. The Raya break gave me some idea on what to do, if I really have to leave the current job.

I pray that you all have a safe and pleasant journey back to your home, from wherever you were from. To those that are already at work, we that are still on holiday are very thankful. Next year we hope to exchange places with you all (tough luck! hehehe).

My Pride Day (MPD)

You see, all my life I have been more bad than good.

So I have been thinking, how can someone as small as me (compared to the universe of God) make an impact or good changes in this world?

So I did little little things, like

1) Smiling to my neighbor.
2) Helping the blind crossing busy streets.
3) Saying thank you to all that gives me anything or render me services.
4) Picking up a puppy trapped in the drain.
5) Giving talks and advice to unfortunate kids.

and more little little things. I think you all get my drift here. And lately I have been thinking how can I do more? All this while I have been blogging, and friends have asked me to do some sort of tag or another.

So I am just thinking, why not start a tag? After consulting KH (Kucing Hitam @ Black Feline) she suggested MPD. Thanks KH I really appreciate it. I am hoping you will be the first one to do it. Guess it should not be a problem for you.

Will start with some simple rules.

1) Choose a day in a week or month or year. On that day, you will write all the good things you have done, may it be small or big. Small like the one I did and wrote up there. Big can be like donating RM 1 million or setting up a home for the orphan.

2) So the tag will be ongoing. Lets say you choose to do it every first Monday of the month. Then on that Monday you will post on your blog what good deeds you have done for the month.

3) You may tag as many you like. The more the merrier. Make sure you copy the rules and put it on top of your post.

I guess those are the rules. Who am I tagging? All that is in my friends and read list and those that do drop by here to read my blog.

The idea is to make our life a little bit better, starting by us doing and feeling great about our life. Promote this to others so that this little little things can go a long way and make a bigger impact in our lives.

If you care about all the miseries in this life, than start doing good deeds no matter how small it is. My hope is that this tag will travel all over the world, and make someone happy and maybe save a few souls.

Do your bit now!

I am choosing the first Monday of the month for my MPD starting 1st October 2007.

Hope it is not a burden for all of you to participate and be a part of making the world a better place to live.

P/S: I will be promoting this tag for 15 days. So my new post will be below this post.

Selamat Bercuti Dan Selamat Hari Raya Eidil Fitri.

Before that I want to tell you all what I learned this morning. I used the microwave oven a lot. Even to cook or bake or just to warm up left over food.

This morning I wanted to bake my big juicy curry puff that was made in Singapore. So I took it out from the freezer and put it in a container that says microwave oven friendly.

Then I preheat the oven. When preheat was done I set it to bake for ten minutes. Shove the container in and press the start button.

I tried to take some 40 winks. Woke up when I heard the microwave bell indicating that the timer is done. Half asleep, I can smell something burning. Behold, the container actually melted!

So I learn, that baking in a microwave oven, one must use baking utensils. Microwave friendly containers will melt if you bake or grill! What la, after so many years, only this morning I know......

Wishing you all a great holiday, and "Selamat Hari Raya Eidil Fitri". Do have the heart to forgive me if intentionally or otherwise, I have in any way done any of you any wrong....

Have a wonderful and safe journey for those traveling.

Isn't it great to lead a wonderful and fulfilling life? Pray that all our deeds and fasting is accepted by Allah. InsyAllah.

Pay It Forward.

Pay It Forward was a book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde, which was later made into a movie. Pay It Forward Foundation was established later to champion the project. Please refer this article in Star 6th October, 2007.

Honestly, I have not read the book, nor I have seen the movie, but I have heard of it before. So as I happen to promote doing deeds and kindness starting this month of Ramadhan this article grabbed my attention. If they can start a foundation, caring Malaysian can start one too. Caring Malaysian can be better.....

Let me elaborate on what I did,

1) Smile to my neighbor. This happened I guess it was because of the Adik Nurin tragedy. We should be more kind and getting to know our neighbor(s), especially if they happen to be one sexy lady.....

2) Helping the blind cross a busy street. It happened in the jam in Jalan Raja Laut. A blind leading a blind, got confused when they were trapped in-between two vehicles. I just happened to be there are the right time, and guide them to the other side of the street. To the vehicle that stopped right in the middle of the pedestrian crossing, sir and madam, please have heart to the blind....

3) Saying thank you. It is becoming a habit, saying thank you, to the toll collector, to the person taking order in the fast food restaurant, to whoever that is kind to me, especially if it is a pretty lady.... hehehe....

4) Picking (saving) up a puppy from a drain. For two nights in a row, I can hear a dog barking every time I came home late..... then on the third day I came back early. I still can hear the barking. When around to look for the dog, a few meters away I saw a puppy in the drain, at a ledge looking tired and hungry. Three days stuck in the drain, luckily it did not rained! I was unsure what to do, finally took a thrown away plank and elevate the puppy out off the drain.... it ran away immediately.. at least it was still strong...

5) Giving talk and advice to unfortunate kids. This has been my project for more than 7 years. I was from a poor background. I can relate to these kids. Most of them, actually are from family background that cant even afford a proper school shoe. So, some of my friends they look after the financial needs. Me, being also, "just enough", gave my time for them. Not much just once a month on the first Saturday. This might be my final year.... need to get some other people the chance to take my place... and I am thinking of making something bigger.... maybe giving talks and advice to teenagers that are facing issues in their life.... maybe...

Well, will be doing other small small things like what Pay It Forward is doing.... paying meals for strangers, washing strangers cars, etc.... But as everything is limited for me (time, money, etc) I just stick to smaller smaller things first....

As 15th of October is my birthday.... Yeah! I would like all of u that reads this, do something good on that day.... Yeah for strangers like me..... I will be grateful if all of u do good deeds to strangers as a gift for my birthday....

P/S: Just for your info, I do not celebrate my Bday, because I do not want to, and we were poor.... but now, I want to do good on my Bday.... and I hope all of you will too, as much as possible... Make our life better by helping others to make their life a little bit better..... Hehehe... I am writing too much today!

Who is that?

On Sunday I received an sms from a friend. It says something like this,"Waaa DG now you are into advertisement? Since went you become a model?".

Then five minutes later another friend called up.

Friend: "Hey, I was watching TV with my gf, and she asked me, isnt that your friend?"

DG: "Huh?,what you talking about?"

Friend: "Hello friend now you are a model, jangan sombong la...."

DG: "Hello friend, tell the story from beginning...."

Friend: "I was watching TV, during advert we notices one of the character looks like you. So I watched carefully, and yes I am convince it was you!"

DG: "No la, I should know better..."

Friend: "Hey it was you la! You being modest...."

DG: "Trust me, it was not me..."

Friend: "Ya la, come to think of it, that guy seems to look younger"

Hehehe... that was fun to me. When I was in Indonesia long ago, the hotel receptionist stopped and questioned me, "Bapak pembaca berita TV Nasional?". The moment I talked he knew I am not local, so that answers him. But he kept insisting that I really looked like the news reader.

Then when I was in Indiana, Bloomington was it? I really cant recall. A Malaysian stranger actually got hold of my arm and pulled me to meet a guy. When we were face to face, he said "Sorry la, but I just have to do this, dont you two look so alike?". To be honest, I dont think so, but the people there thought so!

Someone told me long ago, there are seven people that looks like you. It must be true....

That reminds me of what I went thru recently. I was following a friend and her family to "merisik" for his brother. When we entered the girl's house, I noticed that her brother's picture was hanging on the wall, amongst the other family pictures. So I nudged my friend and pointed to the picture, and she too was so excited and asked the family, how come her brother's picture was in their house? It turns out, that was the picture of the girl's elder brother!

Have you met one that looks like you?
